About Amortica
Amortica is a free, no-sign-up calculator that shows what a mortgage or fixed-rate loan really costs — the monthly payment, the total interest, and the full month-by-month amortization schedule — in euros or dollars.
Why it exists
Most people meet a mortgage as a single number from a bank: "your payment is X". That number hides the part that matters — how much of your money becomes interest, how the balance falls over 25 or 30 years, and how a shorter term or a small overpayment changes the total. Amortica was built to make that visible in a few seconds, before you sit down with a lender, and to work the same way whether you borrow in euros or in dollars.
Who builds it
Amortica is made and maintained by an independent web developer, not by a bank, broker or lead-generation company. There is no sales team and no one will call you. The site does not sell mortgages and earns nothing from any lender.
How the numbers are calculated
The calculator uses the standard amortized-loan (annuity) formula that banks across the eurozone and the United States use: payment = P × r / (1 − (1 + r)−n), where P is the amount borrowed, r is the monthly interest rate, and n is the number of monthly payments. Each row of the schedule then splits the payment into interest (charged on the current balance) and principal (the rest), and reduces the balance accordingly. A worked example is checked against published bank tables in the source code.
Everything runs in your browser. The figures you type are never uploaded — see the Privacy & Cookie Policy.
What it deliberately leaves out
Amortica models principal and interest only. It does not add taxes, insurance, notary or arrangement fees, or model a variable rate changing over time. That keeps the result a clean, comparable baseline; local costs vary too much between countries to estimate responsibly. The full disclaimer is in the Terms of Use.
How the site is funded
Amortica is free and supported by advertising shown on the pages. Ads are clearly separated from the tool and never block it. We do not take payment for placement in the guides or for favourable mentions of any product.
